The Form Every Entrepreneur Needs

As a freelancer or entrepreneur, you’ll frequently get asked to provide a W-9 form in order to get paid for the work you do. It’s a good idea to fill-in the form ahead of time, and keep it on file, because you’ll need it often.

Special note for freelancers/independent contractors… Even if a company doesn’t ask for your W-9 form upfront, it’s always a good idea to provide that information along with your invoice, so that it doesn’t hold up your payment later on. Most finance departments refuse to cut checks without having a copy of your W-9 form.

Here’s the W-9 form you’ll need.
