Usher Announces World Leadership Awards

R&B singer, Usher Raymond, continues to make news with his growing philanthropic efforts. Most recently, he announced that his charitable organization, New Look Foundation will host the first annual World Leadership Awards on Friday, August 6th in Atlanta. According to the organization, heads of state, civic and community leaders, philanthropists and celebrities are scheduled to participate in the award ceremony to honor eight individuals for their commitment to youth as leaders and agents of change.

While Usher will perform live at the award ceremony, the real stars of the evening will be the recipients of the Youth Catalyst Award, the Global Youth Leadership Award, the Global Ambassador of Youth Awards and others.

The New Look Foundation, established in 1999, mentors young people as global leaders. The programs train high school youth in leadership, business, education and service. Currently in seven cities, New Look has worked with over 8,700 young people, and has provided over 150,000 hours of leadership training. Now in its eleventh year, New Look has seen a 98% high school graduation rate among alumni. With the launch of the Powered By Service campaign, an international call to youth service, at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2009, the New Look Foundation has made service more diverse, relevant and accessible to all young people.
