I love these tips. We do a lot of sales presentation skills training. I think the most important thing we have to keep reminding people of is SOLVE YOUR CUSTOMERS’ PROBLEMS. Don’t spend all of your time telling people how great you are. With that one piece of advice, we’ve seen pretty bad go to pretty great.

These are really great tips! This is exactly why I do not give away too much information in the proposal. I also like the idea of doing consultations first and I have no problem doing that. It’s a good way to get a better feel for the business and what I can truly offer them.

I have read a lot of good advice from small business owners. The one thing I like to add, the key to making money starts with the planning. The decisions made such as what product or service, price point and limits, what day to run promotion, capturing new clients info and follow up, how to get employees ready for the promotion and how to handle your regular loyal customers just to name a few concerns.

I am a licensed manicurist and work at a spa that is relaxed and another one that is very fast paced. I also do mobile clients: going to their homes, job, etc. My time of service varies from being too long to too short, so I was advised to invite friends over to provide services to them for free. After reading this article, I see the negatives regarding this. I have one main reason for doing it though. I would rather get feedback from people that I know as far as my quality and time of service instead of getting complaints at work. This is my first time working in a shop. After this freebie party though, there will not be any more. Thanks for posting this article.
